Our Social Security Disability
Advocate Online Training


This 20-hour online training course - is presented by Austin Community College and their online instructor, who are also former Social Security Disability Determination Examiner, Social Worker and currently disability advocate. 

The training course was developed to provide guidelines and support for the professional - who is helping clients' that need and deserve social security disability benefits.  As well as those social workers and nurses who assist patients - as well as help their employer avoid reimbursement issues.

Module I covers the responsibilities of the professional that is helping the client.  Module II-IV covers the disability and health components of impairments - as well as the case development issues, that are necessary to for creditable case development before future SSA adjudication.  Each module requires the student to complete and pass an exam, prior to moving on to the next module.

Education Continuing Credit:
Course provides 20 continuing education contact hours for nurses (RN & LVN), counselors (LCDC, LPC, LMFT) and social workers (state of Texas).  Paralegals, case managers, case intake specialists, workers compensation, human resource staff, and others receive 20 contact hours of general college continuing education credit.  This program is also approved by the National Association of Social Workers (provider #
886406986) for 20 continuing education contact hours.

Online Course Process:
Course is offered in a web-based course instruction format.  It is currently offered throughout the year, with students able to register at any time - who can work at their own pace.  This online course must be completed within a 6-month period.  Students must register through the ACC Continuing Education department (see contact information below), and then course access information will be e-mailed to the student.

Michael Davidson - a former MHMR Case Manager, Social Worker, and Social Security Disability Determination  Examiner.
